Recycling

Our environmental approach

VLAD is committed to being environmentally efficient and to:

  • Comply with laws, regulations and standards relating to the protection of the environment, as well as the requirements of our customers in this regard,
  • Develop prevention against all forms of pollution that our activities may generate
  • Communicate to all employees the environmental performance
  • Respond in a transparent and voluntary to the different demands of interested parties (customers, suppliers, authorities, local representatives, riparian, associations),
  • Create a dynamic of continuous improvement of the management system of the environment in the definition of objectives and targets and the establishment of the necessary resources for the achievement of the latter
  • Deploying our system of collection of batteries and accumulators under controlled conditions.

VLAD corporate culture, oriented towards client satisfaction and technical progress, is based on its responsibility to the environment. So with the certificate balance, we support the initiative of EDF which undertakes to inject the network of 100 MWh of electricity from its own 'green' production plants from renewable sources.

Our actions for the environment

Our environmental ethics has enabled us to obtain ISO 14001 certification.

VLAD is engaged in a process of sustainable development supported by its system of collection and recycling of batteries and batteries. The latter is put at your disposal free of charge on request.

It is in the context of respect for the environment which we propose you the new repackaging, option cheaper and greener than the purchase of battery packs.

All our packaging is recycled.

These environmental actions are possible thanks to our partner Corepile that manages and implements the recycling of batteries and batteries. Through us, they can provide some boxes collection

After the sorting phase, there is treatment: the material contained in cells and batteries will be extracted. There are various techniques of recycling based on the types of batteries or batteries to deal. Fetch on average 60% of the raw material of the batteries and 50% from the batteries.

Recycling

Recycling involves four types of processes, according to the categories of batteries to recycle:

The pyrometallurgy

Aalkaline & salt, batteries lithium, NiCd, Li-ion and NiMH rechargeable batteries

The hyrometallurgy

Alkaline & salt, battery NiCd and Li-ion rechargeable batteries

The distillation

Button cell batteries

The merger

Lead-acid batteries

RECOVERY OF RAW MATERIALS

Different materials can be reused after refining:

  • nickel, cadmium and zinc, in the form of metal or oxide
  • manganese, in the form of ferromanganese
  • the iron, in the form of scrap or incorporated in a Ferroalloy
  • Mercury, after distillation and refining, in the form of purified metal liquid.

Improving the performance of recyclers lets hope it will be possible to recycle some electrolytes and plastics.

Thus recovered metals can be used in the manufacture of new goods of our daily lives as: copper pipes, automotive parts (steel, aluminum), cans (iron, aluminum), gutters (zinc), housewares (stainless steel), bicycles (iron, aluminum, copper, nickel,...), key (iron, nickel), cells and batteries new etc.

DEVELOPMENT OF ALKALINE BATTERIES

1 000 kilos of alkaline and saline batteries treated by pyrometallurgy is obtained:

350 kilos of ferromanganese

Used in the manufacture of stainless steels (covered with table, bollards, disc brakes from TGV...)

280 pounds of zinc oxide

In metallic form (roofing, gutters...), or in the form of chloride of zinc (used in the manufacture of saline batteries)

190 kilos of slag

Valued as mineral matter (manufacture of rock wool, backfill material)

It thus includes the importance of each step of the collection, recovery, through sorting and treatment: Recycle the batteries and accumulators is involved in the preservation of the environment and saves natural resources!
